Now this sport really is a bit much!

Chessboxing is a wild mix-up of two of mankind's oldest sporting obsessions.

This is an EXTRA sport that requires a high level of skill in both disciplines in order to win.

Opponents slug it out on the chessboard and in the ring in 11 alternating rounds until there is a winner by checkmate or knock-out.

The match begins with a round of chess and each chessboxer has a total of 9 minutes for the total chess game, making it potentially 18 minutes of chess in full.

The chess game is interrupted every 3 minutes by 5 bouts of 3 minute boxing rounds.
