Now, we here at Extracise LDN know that our readership are the adventurous types. Those who, where possible, like to try to see a bit of the world.
Well, the crazy race that this article focuses on will allow you to do just that.
London is, by population
France's 6th biggest city.
Which, if nothing else,
is a great gobbet to bring
out at the next dinner
party you attend.
But we feel it justifies our focus on a bit of French Extracise.
The 'Marathon Du Medoc' takes places every year in early September.
It is by no means a normal marathon.
Over the 26.2 mile course, there are a myriad of stops providing a total of up to 23 glasses of wine, mountains of cheese, ice cream, oysters, meats and the list really does go on.
Fancy dress is also absolutely compulsory.
The night before, the event is host to many a 'pasta party', where revellers can gorge themselves on pasta and wine to carb-load for the ensuing exertion.
This is most certainly extra and most importantly sounds like bloody good fun.
Although with temperatures of up to 30 degrees celsius, lots of wine and fatty foods could be a combination to send you to the doctors.
Entries are closed for this year, but keep an eye out for next year!
