Londoners enjoying St. Patricks Day celebrations

This Saturday Londoners will don their green finery, glug gallons of Guinness and dance to B*witched in celebration of St. Paddy.

Whether you’re a fully-blown Leprechaun, just a tenth Irish, or your only claim is that your Mum was a massive fan of The Nolans, we will all be claiming our Irish heritage as an excuse to have a knees-up.

As a website dedicated to providing you the best and most exciting ways to keep fit, we have our top suggestions for St. Paddy's.

We don’t want to take this day away from you though – PLEASE, sip that Guinness until you are 99% composed of the stuff – but there are ways that you can at least hit your 10,000 steps and break a decent sweat over the weekend.

1. There’s plenty of time to wear some bright green workout gear and squeeze in a sesh to your favourite Irish tunes. Download a playlist and get it done. C’est la vie ;)

2. We love banging on about step counts here at Extracise and what better way to boost them than with a bar crawl? THE EPITOME OF BALANCE! There’s loads to choose from around London this weekend. Here’s one: https://www.insider-london.co.uk/st-patricks-day-2018/

3. This year London's St. Patrick’s Day parade is on Sunday 18th and features a 2.4km procession followed by all-day celebrations in Trafalgar Square. Irish dancing, music and food. ALL I SEE IS STEPS STEPS (snacks) STEPS AND STEPS (and snacks).

4. There are PLENTY of venues across the city hosting parties. Piano Works? Pop Brixton? Clapham Grand? There is something going on in every borough. And the best thing about staying out partying until the early hours? Your step-count rolls over to the next day and you wake up with a few thousand steps already in the bag!

5. For those that cannot stand the taste of Guinness or just want to do something that doesn’t involve alcohol (each to their own, right?), there are plenty of other options. A Father Ted-athon in Clapham, comedy in Covent Garden, guided Irish walks (MORE STEPS) and the 2018 Irish Film Festival.

6. If you are particularly dedicated to keeping on top of your goals this weekend then why not go totally green? All the healthy stuff is green. Avocados, green peppers, spinach, pesto, peas, green tea, kiwis, cucumber, I could go on…

I’ve also heard that if you have a pint of Guinness in one hand and a handful of spinach in the other, the effects totally balance out….
